Steroids and Dizziness

My last day of steroids was Sunday. I was still feeling the awful effects from them yesterday while at work. It was rough going at work. I could barely walk a straight line. Dizzy as heck all day and hoping not to fall.

Waking up today I am feeling a lot less dizzy and a lot more confident.

Steroids can take up to 72 hours from your last dose to leave your system. Steroids are just nasty.

A word to the wise, "JUST SAY NO!"

I felt much better when I was off of the steroids for a week or more. But the NS warned I would still feel the effects for weeks. I'm now just on Keppra and its effects aren't as bad as the steroid. Hope you experience the same thing.

  2. Hello Paul,

Couldn't find your post, but I did receive an email about it. So I'm posting it here.

If you look at my very last post of September or October 2010, you will see that I have miraculously come out of this and am doing excellent! Back to work and everything. I am really blessed and lucky.

Now, regarding the steroids, after brain surgery you immediately are prescribed steroids which prevent brain swelling. The type of steroid I was prescribed was called Decadron. It is totally different from the "steroids" that body builders use although it had many of the same physical side effects.

My advice to you is to cease taking the steroids. It will ruin your life and reak havoc on your health. Just one dose can make you sterile among many other things. Your life is already being affected by them negatively.

Take care Paul and thanks for checking out my blog.

  3. Hey, sorry i didnt see those posts, but nevertheless really glad u've made a recovery and are getting on with ur life - you are very lucky indeed and i guess you'll be able to go on from here appreciating and being grateful for every day and every thing you have.

I appreciate ur advice. i dont want to be a bodybuilder, i'm happy the way i am, i was just curious to see their effects really, but now i am beginning to realise what a dirty habit it is and how they can mess with ur body.

Despite that, i do think that the dizzyness etc is a separate problem in itself that i need to address, and that possibly the dizzyness is leading to mild panic attacks. Been reading quite a bit about it online, still no concrete answers but next stop is the GP so we'll see...

Anyway, keep it up, nice to chat, and all the best.

  4. A right combination of steroids along with protein-rich diet and a good sleep can do wonders for even a lean built athlete in a short span of time.
